What is the AIP Diet & How Does It Work?
The autoimmune protocol diet involves eliminating inflammatory foods from an individual’s diet and adding in nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory foods, such as vegetables, healthy fats, and quality proteins. This diet is based on the idea that certain foods lead to inflammation in the body that, in turn, contributes to autoimmune symptom flare ups. The goal of the AIP diet is to reduce pain, inflammation, and other symptoms that are brought on by autoimmune diseases, like lupus, celiac disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, through dietary changes.
After a few weeks of following the AIP diet, eliminated food items will slowly be reintroduced back into the diet to identify which foods may be triggers for flare ups.

What Does An AIP Diet Health Coach Do?
Autoimmune diseases can cause a wide range of debilitating symptoms, from chronic pain and fatigue to inflammation and brain fog. At PEAK, we often conduct a general health assessment before a health coach comes into the picture. With this initial assessment, we obtain a baseline for your health and can discuss flare up triggers that you are aware of, what your goals for symptom management are, and other factors that may be impacting your autoimmune symptoms. Once our initial assessment is complete, you can be referred to an AIP diet coach.

A coach can help clients identify specific dietary triggers through the autoimmune protocol diet and implement lifestyle changes to reduce symptoms and regain energy. Many people experience fewer flare-ups, improved well-being, and increased vitality through this holistic approach to health. A coach can also help to:
- Create Customized Nutrition Plans: An AIP health coach can help you create a diet plan that removes inflammatory foods that cause flare-ups and tailor it to your lifestyle and preferences. They will base your tailored plan on the AIP diet, incorporating nutrient-rich foods and avoiding specific trigger foods.
- Lifestyle & Stress Management: In addition to nutrition, managing autoimmune symptoms requires addressing lifestyle factors such as stress, sleep, and exercise. A coach offers guidance on mindfulness practices like meditation, gentle exercises like yoga, and strategies to improve sleep quality. Managing these factors can significantly reduce the severity of autoimmune symptoms.
- Ongoing Support & Accountability: Consistency is key when managing an autoimmune condition, and an Autoimmune Diet Health Coach provides ongoing support and accountability. Regular check-ins help track progress, address any challenges, and make necessary adjustments to the plan. This consistent guidance ensures clients stay motivated and on course with their health goals.
