“The leading causes of disability are musculoskeletal injuries, meaning disorders of muscles, joints, nerves, bones. The most common approach typically takes a segmented approach of only medications to treat the issue. Although symptoms can be suppressed with medications, that’s only one component to the disorder complex that’s being addressed. By also addressing the movement and healing component, we can successfully treat these injuries. At PEAK we address ALL of the aspects for resolution instead of just ‘dealing with’ constant pain cycles.”
Diagnosing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Numbness, tingling in the first three fingers, and muscle weakness are common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. The diagnosis process involves a study of the patient’s medical history, a physical examination, and nerve conduction testing to verify that the median nerve is compressed.
Common Treatment for CTS
Anti-inflammatory drugs, wrist splinting, and wrist-strengthening exercises are all part of the treatment regimen for CTS. Chiroporactic therapy’s primary goal is to relieve pressure on nerves by using adjustments and soft tissue mobilization methods.
How PEAK Approaches CTS
We use a thorough examination to distinguish between peripheral neuropathy and genuine carpal tunnel syndrome. Our strategy involves nerve flossing techniques to release the median nerve and a specific technique to break up adhesions and scar tissue called “instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization” (SASTM) to break up scar tissue. In order to stop further nerve compression, we also offer ergononic guidance.
Managing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Long Term
Individualized exercise regiments and routine examinations help manage long-term CTS. We instruct patients on ergonomic changes and preventative measures to lessen wrist strain.
